Getting started with Parasolv

With a simple and intuitive interface and lightning fast processing, you'll have your shadow study completed with just a few clicks of the mouse!  Here's a quick intro to the user interface. . .

Select Net New Shadow Color

Net new shadows that are cast by the New Shadow Caster are color coded so they can be differentiated from existing (grey) shadows. Use the pulldown menu​ to select one of several contrasting color options.

​​Select Removed Shadow Caster (if any)

The Removed Shadow Caster is any object being removed to and/or replaced by the New Shadow Caster (such as an existing building being removed to make way for a new building). The pulldown menu provides a list of to select the group or component which is the Removed Shadow Caster, including an option for "None".

Select Analysis Scene
The Analysis Scene is your saved scene that will be the viewpoint for your shadow study.  Any angle or camera setting can be used and you can style the scene any way you like, you'll just need to have at least one saved before launching Parasolv so you can select it from the pulldown menu.​​​

Select New Shadow Caster
The New Shadow Caster is the shadow-casting subject of the shadow study (such as a proposed new building).  The pulldown menu provides a list of to select the group or component which is the New Shadow Caster.​​​

Pick dates for the shadow study

Using the checkboxes, select one or more analysis dates for the study.  The summer and winter solstices represent the times when the sun's path in the sky is at its highest and lowest level, while the spring and fall equinoxes represent the midpoints between.​

Select times of day for analysis

Using the pulldown menus, select the times of day on each of the dates you'd like your shadow study to show.  Pick the earliest and latest times as well as an hourly interval in between.  For instance, selecting 9am for the earliest time, 3pm for the latest and every 3 hours for an interval would result in images showing 9am, 12noon, and 3pm. 

...and just click Generate Shadow Study and you're off!!
